Eligibility

This Contest is open to developers from all over the world. You may participate in the Contest on your own, or as part of a team (hereinafter referred to collectively as a “Participant”).

You must sign in to your HUAWEI ID to be an eligible Participant.

You must be 18 years of age or over to enter the competition. You are not eligible as a Participant if you are:

(1) Under the age of 18;

(2) an employee of Huawei or any of its affiliates, an employee of Huawei’s advertising, creative, or public relations agency, a program organizer, or if you are connected in any way to such an employee, such as being a member of their immediate family.

Huawei may ask for proof of age or identity of any Participant. If prizes cannot be distributed due to a Participant’s provision of incomplete/incorrect personal data, the Participant shall forfeit their eligibility to receive a prize.

Winners of the Contest must submit details of a valid bank account within the period specified by Huawei, in order for Huawei to transfer cash prizes to them. Winners of the Contest must promptly inform Huawei of any changes to their bank details.

The rules for setting up a team are as follows:

(1) Each Participant can join only one (1) team.

(2) Each team must comprise between one (1) and four (4) members.

(3) Each team must have a name. Team names that are vulgar or defamatory or infringe on the legitimate rights of any third party are prohibited.

(4) Individuals or teams may only participate once and only in one (1) region.

(5) When you join a team, your personal data, such as your profile picture, name, and contact information will be shared within the team and you explicitly consent to this.

(6) A team must have a team leader who is responsible for managing the team, such as inviting or removing members, submitting Works, and being a point of contact for Huawei.

(7) A team member can apply to join or leave a team.

(8) The score for a submission to the Contest by a team belongs to the team. If a member leaves the team, the team score shall not be affected.

Participants can update their entries before the registration deadline on October 9, 2022 at 18:00, Beijing time (UTC+8). Once submitted, the entries cannot be withdrawn.

Works must comply with the following requirements to be a valid entry for the Contest:

(1) With express, prior, and written authorization of rights holders, Works may use third-party game engines, middleware, open-source software, or code libraries.

(2) Each individual or team must fully comply with the HUAWEI Developers Service Agreement and any other agreement clauses and terms applicable to services, including the HUAWEI Developers Merchant Service Agreement, HUAWEI Partner Paid Service Agreement, and the T&Cs for using AppGallery Connect and Huawei Mobile Services (“HMS”) Core.

(3) Works must fully comply with the release policies for HUAWEI AppGallery.

Entry Requirement

1. Submitted works must integrate at least 1 HMS open capability or service, and run seamlessly on devices with HMS installed.

2. Works may use third-party game engines, middleware, open-source software, or code libraries, so long as they are authorized in advance by the rights holders.

3. Contestants must fully comply with the HUAWEI Developers Service Agreement and any other relevant terms and/or service agreements for developer services, including but not limited to the HUAWEI Developers Merchant Service Agreement and HUAWEI Partner Paid Service Agreement, as well as terms and/or service agreements related to the use of AppGallery Connect and HMS Core.

4. Apps that are to be released on AppGallery must fully comply with the AppGallery Review Guidelines.

Notes
1. Only the team leader’s account can be used to integrate HMS open capabilities or services and submit works.

2. Attachments for submitted works must be in ZIP or RAR format, and cannot exceed 200 MB. Such attachments include APKs and app introduction documents. Teams that apply for the Tech Women’s Award must include scanned copies of their female developers’ identity documents in the attachments, while those who apply for the Student Innovation Award must include scanned copies of all the team leaders’ and members’ student ID cards, as well as other identity documents, in the attachments.

Evaluation Criteria

1. Preliminary review checklist

Whether the registration information is complete.

Whether the information about the submitted work is complete.

Whether the work integrates HMS open capabilities or services.

2. Preliminary rating rules

Total score (100 points) = Preliminary judging panel score (50 points) + AppGallery bonus points (10 points) + Other bonus points (40 points)

2.1 Judging panel score

User experience (20 points): The submitted app is stable and functional in real life, with impressive user interactions, a user-friendly interface, and appealing visuals and sounds.

Originality (20 points): The submitted app is loaded with unique and innovative functions that cannot be found in similar apps, ensuring long-term user appeal.

Social value (10 points): The submitted app addresses an issue of widespread concern, and offers new solutions for a specific user group and/or scenario.

2.2 AppGallery bonus points

10 points will be added after an app is successfully released on AppGallery.

2.3 Other bonus points

Other bonus points, which are capped at 40 points, comprise those for capability or service integration and those for applicability to targeted scenarios.

2.3.1 Open capabilities or services

8 points will be added for integrating each of the following: 3D Modeling Kit, ML Kit, AR Engine, Video Editor Kit, Audio Editor Kit, Map Kit, Wireless Kit, Network Kit, Scan Kit, Safety Detect, Keyring, AV Pipeline Kit, Computer Graphics Kit, Scene Kit, Wear Engine, Auth Service, Cloud Functions, Cloud DB, Cloud Storage, Cloud Hosting, Cloud Testing, Cloud Debugging, Remote Configuration, and App Linking. For other capabilities or services, 4 points will be added for each.

2.3.2 Application scenarios

8 points will be added for each of the following: telematics, watches, glasses, speakers, smart displays, tablets, PCs, and earphones. For other scenarios, 5 points will be added for each.

3. Final rating rules

Total score (100 points) = Final judging panel score (50 points) + Public rating score (10 points) + Other bonus points (40 points)

3.1 Judging panel score

User experience (20 points): The submitted app is stable and functional in real life, with impressive user interactions, a user-friendly interface, and appealing visuals and sounds.

Originality (20 points): The submitted app is loaded with unique and innovative functions that cannot be found in similar apps, ensuring long-term user appeal.

Social value (10 points): The submitted app addresses an issue of widespread concern, and offers new solutions for a specific user group and/or scenario.

3.2 Public rating score

Shortlisted works will be ranked according to the number of votes each receives while they are on public display, according to the following formula:

Public rating score = 10 x (Number of votes for a work/Number of votes for the work in the first place)

3.3 Bonus points for open capabilities or services

Other bonus points, which are capped at 40 points, comprise those for capability or service integration and those for applicability to targeted scenarios.

3.3.1 Open capabilities or services

8points will be added for integrating each of the following: 3D Modeling Kit, ML Kit, AR Engine, Video Editor Kit, Audio Editor Kit, Map Kit, Wireless Kit, Network Kit, Scan Kit, Safety Detect, Keyring, AV Pipeline Kit, Computer Graphics Kit, Scene Kit, Wear Engine, Auth Service, Cloud Functions, Cloud DB, Cloud Storage, Cloud Hosting, Cloud Testing, Cloud Debugging, Remote Configuration, and App Linking. For other capabilities or services, 4 points will be added for each.

3.3.2 Application scenarios

8points will be added for each of the following: telematics, watches, glasses, speakers, smart displays, tablets, PCs, and earphones. For other scenarios, 5 points will be added for each.

Note:

1. Best HMS Innovation Award, Best App, Best Game, and Best Social Impact App are mutually exclusive.

2. All-Scenario Coverage Award, Tech Women’s Award, Student Innovation Award, and Best Arabic Appa can duplicate with mutually exclusive Awards.

3. Each app maximum can get 2 awards. The priority for awards granting is as follows: All-Scenario Coverage Award > Tech Women’s Award > Best Arabic App > Student Innovation Award.

4. Previous winners enter this year’s the competition with the same winning app, it will only be considered for awards when it has major breakthrough.
